udessi | finders keepers | B R I S B A N E !

Twice a year The Old Museum in Brisbane plays host to The Finders Keepers Markets.
The markets bring together new contemporary independent artists and designers; every market event is unique and they always rotate the designers and introduce new ones.
[the old museum, brisbane]
Kim of Udessi represented my work at the Finders Keepers markets earlier this month! Excited simply does not cover it.

beginning ebb tide

S A V E   T H E   D A T E !
Saturday 2 March 2013 from 3.30pm:
The official opening of 'Ebb Tide', an exhibition of new work by Megan Puls and myself at Clay Art Benowa, Gold Coast.

For this exhibition, I will be creating a new body work; wheel thrown and hand painted vessels in Southern Ice porcelain. It begins here:

subversive clay | A D E L A I D E !

*ahem* Yes, yes, I know, this is 6 weeks late.
Michaela Kloeckner and myself flew to Adelaide in late September for the 2012 Australian Ceramics Triennale. The 4 day conference was packed with key note speeches, panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations and exhibition openings. Honestly, I was overwhelmed and that is why I haven't been able to write about it until now. I could barely even make notes during the conference, my head was buzzing and I couldn't make any sense of it. 6 weeks on I can hardly begin to untangle my thoughts.

[I'm ready!]

[Michaela and I were VERY excited potters at the airport]

[Good morning!]
I was inspired and intrigued by so many of the presenting artists;

[Gerry Wedd]

[Stephanie Outridge-Field]

[Akio Takamori]

[Vipoo Srivilasa!]
[Penny Byrne]

[I posted this last month - I now know that Fleur Schell shared it with us!]

There are at least half a dozen more in depth posts that I would like to write. Until then, I will note that the recurring theme throughout the conference, whether during the presentations, exhibitions or discussions was this: use your work to tell your story.

mud people

An extra treat at the Eveleigh Artisans' Market in Sydney; a few Mud Colony potters met in person!
[Therese + Anna from Port Hacking, Adriana from Melbourne, ME and Sadhana from the Blue Mountains!]
I had no idea that Adriana was flying up from Melbourne...surprised doesn't even touch it! Thank you lovely lady, you made my day.

eveleigh artisans' market | S Y D N E Y !

What to say about Sydney? We had a ball. My cheeks ached from smiling and my throat was sore from talking, gasping and laughing. Eveleigh Artisans' Market was magic. Huge thank you to my support crew, Nadia, Judith + Stefan and congratulations to The Australian Ceramics Association for organising such a marvellous day.
[Nadia and I were SO EXCITED!]

wonky, lumpy, odd.

What's that? Can you hear something...?

"Hello! We are friendly handmade pots. We might be a bit wonky or lumpy or odd looking, but we were made with love by a nice girl called Katy. Please take us home with you!"

Seconds + Samples Sale TOMORROW night at Miami Marketta!

Oh, and, AND...it's Mud Colony time! A few of us met in PERSON in Sydney last weekend, there was much hugging and giggling!

hit ground run

I've just arrived home from a very marvellous trip to Sydney after participating in Awesome Clay at Eveleigh! with The Australian Ceramics Association. I unpacked my bags last night and loaded the work straight back into my car, ready to hit the studio this morning to prepare for my Seconds + Sales Sale at Miami Marketta on Friday!
