Visiting Megan, my exhibition buddy, last month...

[these forms look like dinosaur eggs to me!]

[hi Megan!]

potters market

Yesterday we (the Gold Coast Potters' Association) celebrated the closing of our Annual Members Exhibition with a Christmas Market! 50 stalls, including ceramics, wood turning, weaving, jewellery and demonstrations, along with gorgeous cakes and a wicked band, made for an excellent day in the sunshine!
[hello!]

[flowers from Joanne's garden!]
Big love to my stall buddy, Joanne McFaul - she kept us laughing all day.

miami marketta | november 2012

A belated Marketta thank you; the Seconds + Samples Sale was a resounding success - so many odd pots found loving homes!

[thanks to Bob for the photo of Nadia and I!]
A special thank you goes to my sweet friend Nadia for her very excellent help and company!

The final Miami Marketta for 2012 is Friday 14 December, 5 - 10pm!

clare twomey

In January 2011 I visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. I spent an afternoon in the ceramic galleries, gawking at the greatest and most comprehensive collection of ceramics in the world.
One of the (many) pieces that left an impression on me; the remnants of 'Trophy' by Clare Twomey, an installation from 2006. 4000 small birds were made from Wedgewood's Jasper Blue to be displayed throughout the museum; within five hours of opening, the public had stolen each one of the birds that made up the collection; although they were not formally invited to take the birds home, many followed the behaviour of others in the space.

18 months after that trip to London, I had the pleasure of listening to Clare speak at Subversive Clay in Adelaide. An articulate and well versed speaker, her keynote speech was certainly a highlight of the conference.

Treats! Big thank you to Keane Ceramics for their generous sponsorship in the Port Hacking Potters 47th National Competition!

udessi gallery/studio

Kim Wallace of Udessi is creating a delightful gallery studio on the Sunshine Coast...I wish I could visit!

I'm in love with Hana Rajkovic's art prints and they compliment my Silverdale Dreams cups so very well...

port hacking

The Port Hacking Potters 47th National Competition was held at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Art Centre, Gymea NSW from 22 September to 3 October 2012.

Judge Greg Daly commented on the exhibition: "It was a delight to see so many diverse ideas and challenges for the makers and the viewers. Take time, look carefully and slowly; you will be rewarded."

I was privileged and humbled to win the Open Wheelthrown section!

I had the pleasure of meeting the competition coordinators, Anna and Therese, at the Eveleigh Artisans' Market; it's clear that such a successful event requires a great deal of dedication and hard work - credit to you ladies, you did a marvellous job for us.

life drawing

I have never been to a life drawing class before. Last month I spent a glorious hour and a half sketching whilst sipping red wine and listening to 80s vinyl at Gold Coast artist Anne Smerdon's life drawing classes at Kirra Hill Community Centre.
